Florida racer backs up No. 1 qualifying performance with another top spot after making just one qualifying pass in second race of Brainerd double divisional
BRAINERD, Minn. — August 16, 2026 — Chris Roe Racing is continuing to make noise at Brainerd International Raceway.
After qualifying No. 1 for the opening race of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series double divisional weekend, Chris Roe returned to the track for the second event and once again put the Right Trailers Ford Mustang at the top of the qualifying sheet.
Roe secured the No. 1 qualifying position for the second consecutive race, accomplishing the feat with just one time run during Saturday’s qualifying session.
The back-to-back No. 1 qualifying performances mark a strong start to a new chapter for Roe and the Right Trailers team, as Roe continues to demonstrate his ability to quickly adapt to the Mustang and consistently put the car at the front of the field.
The result comes just one day after Roe’s promising opening race ended in the first round of eliminations. After leading the field into eliminations as the No. 1 qualifier, Roe was unable to advance beyond the opening round.
Rather than dwelling on the setback, the team immediately turned its attention to the second race of the weekend — and Roe responded by once again putting his name at the top of the qualifying order.
With eliminations ahead, Roe and the Right Trailers team will look to turn another No. 1 qualifying effort into a deep run on Sunday.
“This weekend has already shown what this team and this car are capable of,” said Roe. “We obviously wanted more out of the first race, but that’s racing. The biggest thing is that we were able to reset, come back out and put the car No. 1 again with one run. Now we have to finish the job.”
The Brainerd double divisional represents another important milestone in the development of Roe’s new partnership with the Right Trailers team. Team President Michael Scott selected Roe to pilot the Mustang, drawing on Roe’s experience behind the wheel of high-horsepower Ford race cars.
The weekend also represents an opportunity to build momentum ahead of Roe’s upcoming NHRA competition, including the upcoming NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
For Roe, the objective is simple: take the speed demonstrated in qualifying and convert it into an elimination-round win.
